Carolina Crossroads is a 1,000 acre development, located halfway between New York and Florida, off Interstate 95 (Exit 171) in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Co-owners/Developers Michael Dunlow and George Ragsdale’s vision for this entertainment, tourism, and retail destination began in 2004. More than 10,000 people attended the groundbreaking for the Randy Parton Theatre, the anchor of the district, on November 11, 2005.
To help kick off the construction, Parton's family joined in the festivities. Included on the list were his sisters, country superstars Dolly, Stella, Rachel, and Cassie. Grand Ole Opry legends Billy Walker, Jim Ed Brown, Jeannie Seely, Ray Pillow, Jan Howard and Helen Cornelius also performed. Since the groundbreaking in 2005, the landscape of Carolina Crossroads has continually changed. Blanchard & Calhoun Commercial Development of Augusta, Georgia, announced its plans in 2006 to build a five-story Hilton Garden Inn. In March 2007, billiard sensation “The Black Widow” Jeanette Lee announced plans to build her first Black Widow Billiards at Carolina Crossroads. |
